So, I've been searching around looking for ways to have fun on New Year's Eve while 32 weeks pregnant. Truth is, after my first baby, I thought this New Years was going to be a blast - of course only to find out that I was expecting again in the middle of this year! I'm thrilled about my second baby, but that brings me to the question of “how do I celebrate and have fun on New Year's Eve while full on pregnant?” Well I've done my research and truth be told, the only way to have fun pregnant ladies is to make it fun yourself... You can still bring out that fun party girl inside of you!
Okay let's be real, life has changed. If you're anything like me, your toddler is sleeping on your lap right now, you’re uncomfortable as anything with your baby kicking you in the ribs and you are trying to accomplish multitasking as you have your phone out while attempting to type your blog on your notes app! True story. So, here’s a list of ways to have fun while pregnant on your countdown to the New Year.
Dress up. I know, the last thing you want to do is get all dolled up, while it feels like you're lugging a bowling ball around in your stomach. But trust me, dressing up makes you feel good about yourself, and it also puts you in the celebration mood. Even if it's as simple as slipping into a dress, you're still going be able to ring in the new year in ultimate pregnancy style. And hey, if you really just can't get into the dolling up spirit, there are some really fancy pyjamas out there that you could kick it in - that should do the trick!
Don't cheap out on snacks. Chocolates, chips, candies, cookies, and cupcakes.... Have it all! It's New Year's Eve - eat anything you feel like tonight, because tomorrow is a new year! Your baby will enjoy this too!
Dance party. Can't stress this enough... Do you know how important music and dancing are during New Year’s Eve? Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you can’t get down and boggie! Plus the exercise is good for you. I recommend putting on Celebration by Kool and The Gang - that always gets me going! Don’t forget to create a good New Year’s Eve playlist! [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]Drink that bubbly! So, you can't drink alcohol, but you can still enjoy a glass of non-alcoholic bubbly. There are tons of options out there for you to choose from so take advantage of it! Pick up a bottle of non-alcoholic sparkling wine or champagne and party it up like a happy mama! [endif] Throw a potluck party! The last thing you want do when you're pregnant is stand by a stove and cook. Inviting some family and friends over for a potluck is ideal, because everyone can bring something to enjoy while ringing in the new year together. Spending time with your loved ones can make your night more memorable and exciting.
Join in on the live New Year's Eve broadcasts playing on tv! Somehow, turning on these live New Year’s Eve broadcasts and seeing the crowd and performances can make you feel alive! Crank up the volume, do the countdown and celebrate with them, it makes you feel as if you are really there!
Movie night. Throw on a good New Year’s Eve movie leading up to the celebration. You can find tons on tv or even Netflix during this time of the year and don't forget the popcorn! [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]Create a time capsule. This is a great idea, especially for showing your baby years after he/she has been born. You can gather and put in a box, some memories, photos and important items from the current year, and keep it to show your baby when they're all grown up! [endif] [endif]Play with sparklers! This is great, even if you have kids already. You can get some sparklers and play with them making it a kid friendly "firework" show! They'll enjoy and so will you!
All in all, there are many ways to enjoy New Year’s Eve while you’re pregnant. You don't have to be in pyjamas before 12am strikes just because you're carrying another human inside of you! You can enjoy just as much as everyone else! I hope you find a good way to celebrate this year, I know I will! Congratulations on your little one and I wish you a very Happy New Year!
